Yesterday, I ended up joining a group motorcycle ride in the morning. These particular rides are really organized for what they are, lead guy even had a spreadsheet of all attendees and there were leads & sweeps. BUT, this ride definitely made me lose interest in a large group ride. It’s a lot different when riding with a big group on bicycles versus motorcycles… Let’s say, the pace of the group I was in wasn’t the most consistent, and it was a huge distraction following people.

The group continued on somewhere but I ended up bailing and turning around to ride Palomares back home. Before I did, I was going left and right in my lane for fun and to keep my tires at temperature… and then one of the group ride gurus (old guy on a crotch rocket) told me I was going to cause someone to hit me and to “relax.” Lame. First of all, how was I going to hit anyone if I was staying in my lane? And why should anyone be passing me, in MY LANE?

One of the things I hate the most is people who are condescending

Anyway, I personally would rather ride solo or with a small number of people, like under 5.

In the afternoon, I decided I was getting too fat so I jumped on the Tarmac and did a quick Coyote Hills loop. It may seem weird that I’m counting each Coyote Hills ride, but it’s a good tally for myself. I figured since my bicycle was nowhere cheap, I need to recoop some of that investment… and the more rides I can log, the more money returned.
