Continued progress on the CBR today. The main item on the list was getting the Woodcraft clip ons, Renthal grips, and CRG levers situated. In the scheme of things, this somehow took all day to do. I wasn’t particularly looking forward to the clip on install, because there’s so many different things to adjust… forward and aft adjustments, rotating the angle of the levers, etc. Needless to say, it took forever and I knew it probably would. I do get paranoid when it comes to things like this, I like them to be spot on and symmetric.

Doing the clutch side bar/clip on wasn’t bad, but I ran into some trouble on the throttle side. One of the pinch screws on the throttle wouldn’t come off, and I ended up rounding it. After some progressive drilling, it eventually became loose and I could unscrew it.

I also mounted the new front calipers and got the Stainless Steel Braided Spiegler lines installed. Here’s a picture of one of the ’09 1000RR monoblock calipers (foreground), and the stock 2-piece calipers.

Fast forward a bit (the sun was setting in these pictures)…

The throttle side, with so much stuff that needed to be crammed onto the bar, things became a bit tight. Also, since the Renthal grips are slightly wider than stock, that took away some precious real estate. I had to rotate the start switch up a bit so that the side of the brake master cylinder would clear it. Eventually things worked out, by millimeters.

As the day progressed, I kept busy getting all this stuff done… and more and more tools and random things had to come out and get used. It got a bit hectic near the end.
